Palette of Pastels

With Easter Sunday right around the corner, it makes me think of cute little dresses and Easter Bonnets. Getting all dolled up for church and Easter Sunday Dinner is a tradition. As we get older, most loose the bonnet and some unfortunately hold on to theirs. Pastel colors were the colors of choice and the mellow/pale yellow is still my fave till this day. Many of the Spring 2010 collections featured a palette of pastels. Designers sent down a mix of colors like a pack of Smoothie Mix Skittles and it was lovely. Here are a few of my favorite looks from style.com below, which is your favorite?

Warm Weather Leather?

Yes, it is true! Leather is not made for just one season. Get ready to rock leather in the warmer weather. I was surprised myself when I saw it featured in Alexander Wang's spring 2009 collection. But it now goes beyond leather leggings and jackets, designers have given leather a whole new life. Hermes featured a leather jumpsuit, Balmain dressed models in leather dresses. And ruffled leather skirts were shown at Valentino. Vests, Jackets, Shorts, Skirts, whatever you desire. This trend gives you a look that is feminine, yet strong. You can tone down the tough image with denim, plain/ruffled tops or a soft sweater. Some of my favorite looks were from Celine's Spring 2010 Ready-to-Wear Collection, which featured leather skirts and a leather top. I love how caramel tones were used instead of black in Celine as well as a leather jumpsuit shown at Chloe. So give your outfit edge year-round & instead of putting your leather away, rock it into the warmer seasons too!

The Budget Look

I'm in the process of looking for something to wear to an office party that's going down this Friday the 26th of March and I stumbled upon this image of Heidi Klum presenting at the Project Runway Season 7 Finale during NY Fashion Week this February 12 2010.This look is perfect from head to toe. Blue is my favorite color so I'm a bit bias :).

In this Photo Heidi is decked out in Gucci:

Of course for me I would have to do "The Budget Look" so here are some look alikes that I found:

Matilda Dress in Aztech Chain Print $55 (karmaloop.com)

Reformed Zora Dress $78 (urbanoutfitters.com)

Contrast Tribal Print Dress $22.80 (forever21.com)

JEGGINGS!!!.....kind of a big DEAL!!!

Finally a cool way to wear jeans and be comfy; jeggings, which are jeans that feel like leggings!!! Leggings that give the illusion of jeans haha. You can wear your tee's and shirts tucked in or out and no one would know they were leggings. They have back pockets and some even have the front pockets as well as zip included. Also, they fit true to size which is important. I recently bought a pair and although I had to do alittle dance to put them on due to my curves; once on, they were perfect. My jeggings sit on my hips/waste nicely and they fit like a glove..tight and stretchy. You can dress it up or dress it down! Here are a few shops that sell them at affordable prices...enjoy.

Bebe.com $59.00 Quinn Dark Rinse Legging

Express.com $59.00 Zelda Jean Legging

Urbanoutfitters.com $39.00 BDG Acid Wash Denim Legging

I have the urban ones above; here are my photos below!

Spring has Sprung

Weather was right on cue with the first day of spring. With spings arrival this past Saturday, no one should have stayed in doors. The sun shining in NYC, there was no way me and the girls would waste it! We took our Cameras (Nikon d60) and hit the big city and were joined by my longtime friends Jeffery and Tye. Our starting point was our fav, THE DOUGHNUT PLANT, where we grabbed some doughnuts and hit the road for our walk across the Manhattan Bridge with our ''vehicles'' and ended at APPLEBEES in Brooklyn for a quiet dinner. Once we were strapped with our cameras, the walk began...

MILK CHOCOLATE LV...A MUST HAVE :)

Ever wanted something sooooo bad but it was really out of reach...YES...well look to your left :). From the Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2010 collection $1000 WHAT IS MY LIFE ABOUT! lol... I've seen them on the runway but up close and personal is a completely different story. I went to the Louis Vuitton story this morning in SOHO with a friend to make an exchange (not me, her lol) and there they were, I promise you they were glowing in the corner waiting for me to walk over. I MEAN, LOOK AT IT. I know sometimes it's ok to splurge but who are we kidding this would be a big one. All I know is if I had these in my pocession they would have to be worn every single day. NO JOKE! In the Spring with some ankle socks or stockings and in the Summer with anything from dresses skirts and even shorts. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!! *sherry*

"COMPLEMENTS OF OPI AND ESSIE"

Hot new colors to try add to your collection that are versatile all year round, Y you ask "BECAUSE I SAID SO" :). Our two favorite brands that never seem to disappoint..."DRUM ROLL PLEASE" The magnificent OPI and the fabulous Essie. You know the saying of how certain accessories can make an outfit, well allow your polish to speak your mood and set the outfit. "NAIL POLISH THE NEW ACCESSORIES".... "DRESS UP THOSE NAILS" :). Doing our nails has become a weekly ritual, not just for me but my sister and Rae as well. It can be a very relaxing process believe it or not. Timely yes but rewarding at the end. Picking out the colors is best part. "OPI AND ESSIE, OUR NEW BEST FRIENDS"... KIDDING :)

My Chihuahua Bites by OPI
My Private Jet by OPI
Lincoln Park After Dark by OPI

THEME IT:

All you "Alice and Wonderland" fans, I hope you celebrated the opening on March 5th 2010 by painting your nails with one or all these themed colors from OPI.

  • Thanks So Muchness
  • Absolutely Alice
  • Mad As A Hatter
  • Off With Her Red

HAVE FUN WITH IT: eXpErImEnT

There are no rules and regulations to wearing nail polish. Who says you have to paint your nails only one color....Here's a thought: check the picture below.

I know that this image is small :) but if you look hard enough you can see that Shirley's nails are primarily red and the ring finger is a "white out white". We have been doing this for almost two years now. It's so much of a routine now that people we are constantly around can't wait to see what colors we do next. We look forward to those questions and stares...lol.

MATTE IT: Not too fond of the glossy top coat look than matte it with " Matte About You" by Essie. This version looks just as great. Instead of High Gloss get that smooth matte finish. Works with any color.

The color featured here is Pink Parka by Essie

FIX IT: The Nail Corrector Pen by Essie...nail polish remover for " Easy Access" to those stubborn hard to reach edges.
You can find this product for a cheaper price at your local pharmacy which works just as well unless you want to splurge a little on this one by essie for a whopping $14.

THE NEW NUDE

Featured we have "Chin Chilly" by Essie and "You Don't Know Jacques" by OPI
...try these colors if your tired of the same old pale pink and white tones, it will bring a new meaning to the word NUDE.

It wouldn't be right for me to end with out letting you know what colors I'm featuring this week :). My primary color is "My Private Jet" by OPI and my secondary color is "Bachelorette Bash" by essie.

I highly doubt it but if you can't find a color that suits you, you can always go the alternative route and do what Marc Jacobs did for his FALL 2010 show and DIY. Here is the full article, truly interesting and innovative.
